Policy on GED Scholarships payments
The Evansville Literacy Coalition (ELC) has found it necessary to monitor the process of GED Scholarships requests and payments within the monthly meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 10:00 am at the Central Library. If meeting date, time or place changes it will posted on our website: www.evansvilleliteracycoalition.org.
1. Acceptance guidelines:
a. The requesting organization must be a current paid member and active member of the Evansville Literacy Coalition. An active member is defined as current paid membership and a representative in attendance at meetings at no less than six meetings in a calendar year.
b. The requesting organization must present all applications within a meeting designated on the meeting agenda.
c. Organizations that are members must make all requests for GED Scholarships, no individual may request outside of the member organization. This is to ensure that all preparation work is done through a reputable organization.
d. ELC will not accept request scholarships for the same individual within a 180 day period.
e. Member organizations may request up to 60 scholarships within a calendar year.
f. Applications will be presented in person by a representative of the requesting organization at meetings during designated agenda times and ELC members will approve applications for scholarships with a majority of present members.
g. Checks for the approved scholarships will be made to the Member Organization only and processed within 30 days of meeting of request.
2. Scholarship Applications
a. Scholarship applications will be available from any Executive Committee member by requesting via email.
b. Scholarship applications will also be available for download on our website www.evansvilleliteracycoalition.org.
c. Applications must be complete and signed.
d. ELC reserves the right to refuse an application if deemed it is a duplicate, reapplication within 180 days or if incomplete.
ELC will post this policy on our website as a community announcement. This policy may change with a majority vote of ELC members according to ELC bylaws. If any member organization requests a change to this policy a written request must be presented to the current Executive Committee. The Executive Committee positions will be posted on our website.
